A Hyp question (or bug?)Write Reply
Dear everyone,

I tried to hyperjump a ship from inside a webmine field. Although I counted in the 25 KT fuel drain, set warp>0 and the friendly to "HYP", it didnt jump - but rather moved a few lightyears and then hit a mine.
Any idea why it did not jump? The only reason I see is a second webmine field, draining another 25 KT of fuel - but I am quite sure there is no second minefield as I have a couple of ships doing minesweeping close by.

Thanks for your help!
cheers, toennie

Thanks a lot guys.
Privs: Not possible as there are no Privateers in the game at all.
Overlapping minefields: The Ship had its mission set to "Mine Sweep" but scanned and swept only one field (ID #166). Shouldnt it have swept two if there were overlapping fields?
Decay: There were lots of minesweepers around - they all cleared mines in field #166 but I guess the Crystals laid new ones so all in all, there was no visible decay.
Ion Storms: Nothing close by that could explain it.
So any other ideas?

PS: I just saw that the ship's message reads "We have passed through 30 light years of mines last turn" - but in fact the ship travelled only 15 light years. So it probably was inside two minefields - but scanned only one, despite it had its mission set to "minesweep". How can that happen?

Ok, thanks a lot to you - I think you are right: There indeed is a Ion Storm exactly on the center of a neighbouring webmine field (#190). Two things made me overlook it at first:
1: the ion storm is so harmless that it's almost invisble, especially as its overlaid with the violet webminefield
2: the minefield itself is visible but looks too small to reach my probe. But: I guess the size showing in the map is based on old sweeping information that I collected before the Ion storm crossed the center.
So, I guess minefield #190 was much bigger as it appeared on the map, draining another 25 KT of fuel of my probe.
