Based on the encouragement to get a new "Unlimited" game...

Based on the encouragement to get a new "Unlimited" game started, I have established a more unrestricted version with hopefully the 9,999 limit advertised by @Joshua as now possible.

It is public, and available for officers with Lt. Commander and above ranks in a race. Password protected.

I did adjust some setting based on the current "Unlimited" test game, including the Expanded RNG, round map with no sphere affect, and obviously the higher limit.

Please take a look at settings and hit "interested" if you want to be considered for the game. Perhaps post here too, with race you would want to play. I have several current "Unlimited " players who are wanting to play, so they get dibs on first choices.

We are having a lot of fun, but the broken priority building in our game has completely change the game to essentially "Classic" with random builds. Not what we wanted. The new limit should help avoid this issue.

I welcome you to join this grand experiment in what has been the most liberating of changes seen to VGAP. Build what you want, when you want. No spam, no BS queue controls, no worries about losing slots, and torp races can hang. Thanks!

Those of you who have shown interest, please post your race preference, and an alternate race.

We still have some openings for this, and I want to welcome any of you interested in giving a game a try with really as few limits as possible. I expect to see our torp races competing very well.

Folks who flagged the game "Interested" please add a line here with your preferred two races. It looks like we just need a pair of players and some willingness to take up unmentioned races so far to get this game fired up. Should be a lot of fun.

So long as you have an officer at the minimum rank for any race, I consider that acceptable to play. I will likely be playing a race I don't even have an ensign in as the last pick : )

High rank in one means you understand the game well enough; being good at a particular race is a whole other matter...

Sounds like we will have enough to fire things up this weekend, so get your race requests in to me and I'll start the process of notifying who is playing what and send out passwords.

Anyone else interested please do message me here, as I can always set up a 2nd game should we get more than 11 players. I do think this will be a great exercise of the game system.

I'll plan to get the game kicked off this weekend I think, should we have all the races filled. I'll be attending a gaming convention this week starting tomorrow, but should be able to fire things up during my down time.

Alright folks, based on feedback and some research the following is my proposed game setup:

Feds- Macros
Lizards - Dines
Birds - Sbor
Fascists - Raw
Crystals - Cpt Cheese
Borg - Ridiw
EE - LP
Robots - Diwu
Privs - Jason Williams
Rebels - Apis Toll
CoM - Shodan

We have one extra person on the interested list, which was by random draw not selected. If anyone is no longer interested on this list, let me know and I can adjust to add him (and he can take that race or mine since I can play any race).

I'll let this soak for a day, then issue passwords if all are in agreement. We should be starting this weekend. Thanks and I look forward to the adventure.

Good question! I added a few more to beef up the home areas. I also expanded the map slightly to give a little larger gaps between HW so players are less likely to get overrun on turn 20. I want this to be more battle oriented and encourage heavy combat with no concern over losses.

I know this runs counter to some racial strategies, but it is very hard to judge racial abilities when they rely on a gimmick in order to take a neighbor out. Trust me, as the Bird player, I'm fully aware that this may hurt some races more than others. But I want to see what the Bird fleet is capable of when I have no slot limitations. Can my economy and resource management skills counter an invading carrier race? Can torp races now use lead ships more effectively to counter carrier advantages?

We shall find out! Hopefully : )

I am very open to creating a 2nd game, and if you are interested I can adjust game settings to try the smaller size idea. I want to push this freedom from ship limits hard to see just what can be done. And not done.

Its a dirty job, but someone has to boldly go where no Nu players have gone. Our game has commenced, and I would welcome getting more going as tests really need numbers in order to get validation of concepts done right.

I'm very pleased to see even more interest in this concept, and I do appreciate all the encouragement and PMs. Based on that, I will set up another game and shrink the sector a bit. I will also open it to lower ranks so long as you have good tenacity.
