Hexagon grids, coordinate systems and distance calculations: an impossible revolution?
What do you think about that?

A change to Hexagon grids isn't really worthwhile since the grid only really matters around Warp Wells. Intercept Mission trivializes whatever grid system we use.

It would also disadvantage people trying to guess where Out-of-fuel ships will move by increasing the number of directions they can flee. This would change the balance against Privateers and Crystals, who would spend a lot of extra time chasing ships and require 4+ ships instead of 3 to corner a ship quickly.

Seeing as the calculations for a square grid still aren't 100% accurate... kinda seems like asking for a new round of bugs.

If anything, I'd prefer a grid-less system as it actually causes more problems than it solves.
