I am considering researching Sage Class Repair Ship for...Write Reply
I am considering researching Sage Class Repair Ship for campaign mode. Does anybody know how that ship works? When do repairs happen during host order?

I don't see repair ships documented on host order, and I actually haven't seen much info on them at all.

Maybe it works like having a load of supplies onboard? For example, could fly a Rush through a minefield with Sage in tow and have 0 damage when arriving at the target after hitting several mines?

I captured one, it just repairs a single ship's damage (not crew loss) by using a Mission that prompts you to select the ship at it's location to repair.

It really isn't that great... I think it should just repair all ships at same location automatically and re-crew them.

Unfortunately, even the documentation team doesn't know when this happens in Host Order. However, pretty much all missions happen well before movement, and I have no cause to suspect that this would be different.

The Robots need something good in campaign. They suck in vanilla Planets and in campaign they got absolutly nothing compared to the other races.
I guess reason was an early site statistic which showed that the Robots scored many victories. A good example that numbers without context can be quite misleading. I assume the statistic based on games with many novices at this time.

I am looking at researching the Rebel planetary shield OR the command ship. Does anyone here have experience and/or recommendations on this? Have to say, Rebels seem to have some pretty good options compared to Robots.

I like the looks of that shield, it reminds me of the movies when the Empire does a ground assault on Hoth. Cool beans!

As for the Robots not having any cool Campaign additions. I guess I agree.

I'd love to see a mission where you can create colonists from supplies and maybe minerals. That sort of extra econ boost would help with the fuel issues, not needing to bring so many clans forward. And it's thematic. Maybe make the mission ship specific so it can be stolen. The Cybernaut needs a reason to be built, so do some of the smaller fighter haulers. Or give it to the Sage, make it an even more interesting option.

How about Robots build Clans from Supplies, beef up the Sage as I'd prefer and give Robots Clans the ability to kill Amorphous natives.

10 supplies + 10 MC = 1 Clan
1 Clan per supply present = kill 1 Amorphous per Turn.

That'd really up their game.

Not that they need a ton of boost, they aren't too under powered, but their campaign choices do need a bit more pop. Sticking with the supplies -> clans thing. How about when repairing with supplies they repair crew as well. It's a minor boost but ups the fun factor, and fits in with theme.

I like Glyn's idea, making the robots more roboty. They already have radiation immunity, I like that. It's thematic. I'm big on that.

This reminds me. I've always wondered why the Robots don't have immunity to Amorphous. Do those worms eat metal as well as flesh?

Well Fascists Glory Device the worms into Supplies(food), so maybe they just ignore Robot colonists and live in peace.

I liked that VGAP4 was adding 'Spice' to the game, I think there was even a VGAP3 mod.

Oh really? Lol. I only played one game of VGAP4. Barely. I built a Supernova and sorta felt like I'd already won. Then lost interest. That game just didn't hit the sweet spot.
