I hate resigning from a game, I feel like I let the whole group at planets.nu down. But, when a player is persistent about lying about me, I have no choice but to take personal peace over the game.

I apologize to the players in the game and the entire planets.nu community.

Hard choice. But why general public feed instead of public feed in game?

"It is a way I have of driving off the spleen and regulating the circulation. Whenever I find myself growing grim about the mouth; whenever it is a damp, drizzly November in my soul; whenever I find myself involuntarily pausing before coffin warehouses, and bringing up the rear of every funeral I meet; and especially whenever my hypos get such an upper hand of me, that it requires a strong moral principle to prevent me from deliberately stepping into the street, and methodically knocking people's hats off- then, I account it high time to get to sea as soon as I can. This is my substitute for pistol and ball. With a philosophical flourish Cato throws himself upon his sword; I quietly take to the ship..."

Hays, I have worked hard maintaining a record of sticking with a game no matter how lost the cause is. I did make the announcement in the game, but I want to go public because I know how dropping hurts a game and everyone on the site puts in a lot of effort to participate in the game. By not maintaining my standard, I believe I've not only let down those in the game I dropped from, but everyone on the site and I want to clarify publicly that it was not a choice made lightly.

Ikester >> But, when a player is persistent about lying about me ...

It would be interesting what the 3rd party/parties in this game think and understand. If this player is lying not _to_ you but _about_ you then he needs someone listening to him. Are these ears believing him despite your good arguments not to do so? If no then you wouldn't have to care. If yes then Snake Tongue is just the better diplomaat - of course only if his tall stories stay on game level and aren't insulting.

Or don't you talk about in-game "lies" at all but about something happening in the forum?

I have no evidence the lie has been spread, it's been an interchange between myself and someone else. I tried blocking communication for 3 turns, but that didn't work. I don't want a public forum war, it interferes with good discussion.

Over the years I've seen so many people complain about other players lying, playing multiple accounts, on and on and on. Bottom line: you can't trust anything anyone says in a game, and, as long as a player isn't violating site rules, anything he says/does in a game is fair. Don't believe anything anyone says; trust but verify. But definitely don't complain about people lying to you. That's just silly.

@Ikester: Sorry to hear about your bad experience. But if the only people involved are you and him and you know that he's telling wrong then the only thing which happens is that he is wasting time and energy. Of course you have to be able to ignore his disturbing messages by technical or mental means. If block communication doesn't work (verify that he doesn't write profile messages instead of in-game messages) it would be worth a bug report to team.nu.

Anyway, thumbs up for your general attitude not to drop :)

My experience on the site has been 99.9% positive, so I try not to let the little conflicts chase me off. I've met some interesting folks on here and really enjoy what I learn from everyone.
