If I tow a ship into a webmine field (crystals) can the towed ship be hit by a webmine as well and so loose fuel?

No. The towed ship is safe.

This is a common tactic when sweeping webmines and can be used many ways.
Two ships with 20 HP will eliminate most fields.
Or tow in a cloaked ship, transfer all the fuel to the cloaked ship and wait for the crystal to come and try and steal your ship. Transfer fuel back and boom.
Won't work against experienced opponents but never hurts to try ;)

If I move a cloaked ship inside a web minefield and I haven't hit a web mine, will the ship still burn fuel because of the web mines?

Yes and no.
It will not drain you on the turn you move in but it will drain you when you are inside. Web drain happens before movement.

Big guys are overrated ^^ the only way to verify that they are Big guys is to play against them totally comitted and with an idea how to beat that race :)

You will find some threads with hints for your situation with the search funtcion in the Activity tab ^^

I looked at your games and you are playing borg right.
So do the crash chunnel (patent pending).

Copied from an old link of mine:

The Crash Chunnel. This is only for borgs or if you somehow manage to trade/steal/beg for Fireclouds.
Going up against the Crystals and there are webminefields everywhere?
Set up a chunnel as you would normally. Now take the ship that you are chunneling to and fly it straight into the nearest webminefield.
What you’re hoping for is to hit a mine.
As soon as that happens your firecloud will reset his speed to 0 enabling a chunnel.
So instead of nibbling at the edges of a webminefield you’ll be (hopefully) smack dab in the middle with all your ships set to minesweep.
And next turn the field will (again hopefully) be gone. If not and if the crystal keeps laying new mines you can always chunnel back out. Just make sure to keep enough fuel in case it’s needed.

@ Frostriese, hello fellow friend :-). I tried to use the search function, but I might not be using enough asterisks (* *), because I searched for "webmines towed". Next search will be towards strategies for ship build after ship limit and when/how to dismantle less important ships. Thanks all for the help on web mines!

@Tenelid: If you are using the sites search function, be aware it only searches for words in the originating thread post... so a bit like Hugo's House of Horrors you are going to have to try different things before finding what works.

I'm not sure if only the words in the unedited post count, or what it's edited for states.

Instead you can try using Google's site search function, example] site:planets.nu pancakes

Then of course there is a way to search just current Documentation by using the built-in Google search box in the top right corner of the "white" Documentation pages; http://help.planets.nu
