In a current game, I've got a problem with Rebel Falcons...Write Reply
In a current game, I've got a problem with Rebel Falcons dropping in to perform Ground Assaults. Quite annoying to say the least. Where applicable, I've set my Star Bases to Force Surrender and set the friendly code to "hyp." This doesn't seem to stop the problem and I don't capture the ships. I thought it was a fluke the first time and I didn't investigate further. Its happened again and now I'm troubled.
The only problem I can come up is that I should have set the FC to "HYP" (upper case), thus preventing me from the capture. Is this correct or is there another reason unbeknownst to me. I've searched the subject but I've found little except vague references.
Any comments on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

If you have only tried the 'hyp' and 'HYP' friendly codes with 'force surrender' mission, then you have left out a large number of possibilities. More experienced players will never (or at least infrequently) fall for that one. They are probably using 'HyP' or 'hYP' or 'HYp' or any of the other combinations of toggle case. That would be my guess on what is happening!

You're doing the right thing by setting your starbases to "force surrender", but only have a 1 in 8 chance of matching case-sensitive variations on the 'hyp' friendly code for Falcons hyperjumping away. If you want a higher rate of success in stopping the attacks, you'll have to resort to other means to protect your planets.

@Kurgul

as your planets cannot attack Rebel ships, your only sure choice is to defend your planet(s) with a ship that can take down a Falcon.

IIRC, a matching FC does not prevent RGA.

additionally, the Force Surrender takes place the next turn as it is before movement - which would allow the Rebel to change the FC to anything...

RGA takes place after movement, thus the same turn as the Falcon arrives at your planet. this gets back to my original statement, you need to defend each planet with a ship.

hope this helps

Thank you all.
You're advice was helpful and resulted in a Falcon capture.
