plural noun: bleeding hearts
a person considered to be dangerously softhearted, typically someone considered too liberal in political beliefs.
Giving free food and clothes to African nations eviscerated their textile and farming industry... bleeding hearts thought they were making the word a better place doing that... unfortunately this is what happens when you allow emotions to dictate policy.
If giving homeless people a million dollars each worked, I'd be all for it... look at the cost of imprisoning people, cheaper to send them to University... but it doesn't work.
People that receive charity end up with crushed self esteem and that makes the slippery slope to immoral action all that much easier.
A common problem is people refuse to research the outcomes of actions and just assume what makes you feel good will work. It's why both Gnerphk and I are jerks about your political views to you... you're just incapable of good faith discussions. And I'm admittedly not even interested in discussion, at most I want everyone to be skeptical and do their own research. You really cannot tell people what to think, everyone is far too contrarian for that to work.
You have an emotional need to take down people with dissimilar views to your own, I do not... I do have a vested interest in actual solutions that work, but...
