| It could be we had a misunderstood in the previous game, but as I said I didn't noticed your message until late, and at that point I just wanted back my worlds and didn't want to attack the colonies that were peaceful toward me, and you decided that since you were stronger you could just destroy me, as it indeed happened. While there is no direct laugh and threats in your words, what I read (maybe wrongly) between the words is: "join me against your ally or die". That of course upset me a bit and thus I went in the next game against the same enemy (you and the wasps) with a biased mind. I already told that.
Also, probably I hate the wasps a bit because I see them as a real threat to the balance of a sector/game if left unchecked, but even with other races I don't like when someone proposes a collaboration to me and AT THE SAME TIME to another 2-3 (or more, I don't know) players in the sector, because it seems to me that he is just searching for the most agreeable or easiest to intimidate players to advantage himself. While there is nothing "wrong" in doing things this way, I just don't like it and makes me immediately suspicious. And seeing how two or more players are still helping you in the game, even knowing that they can at most become second and third IF you leave them ANY SPACE to expand, shows me that I was not fully wrong ;)
A last note about point 4: I did my best to help and GUIDE him against you, but he had Real life problems and thus often forgot to move ships or to set FC as I told him, suiciding his gorbies against your jackers. And since I had not enough ships yet in his area, there was no way I could have helped him better than what I did.
Then, seeing the hopelesness of the situation, I asked him to leave me his ships to continue the fight, and for many more turns I still was suffering at your hands in his area. Only later I recovered enough to launch a counter offensive.
And about my "betrayal", I lready explained my reasons, is not my usual way of doing things in this game, but if someone deserves a clever maneuver to be stopped from monopolizing a game, and I happen to play a cloackers race... a bit of deception has to be expected. That's completely different than betraying a peaceful and profitable alliance/treaty with another player with which I can or can not ally for the endgame, differently from a wasp that can only win alone Thus if you want to play with diplomacy, maybe don't use the wasps or at least don't abuse them by sending "friendship notes" to all the races around you, but focus on just one neighbour. But this is just my opinion/view. :) |
