Question about planets.nu combat order, maybe a NU veteran...Write Reply
Question about planets.nu combat order, maybe a NU veteran can help me understand why I just lost a fleet.
As a Lizard I attacked a Gorbie and had the following ships:
1) T-Rex ID 146, set to "Kill!" + PE "Empire". FC = "mkt"
2) Madonzilla ID 140, mission Hiss + no PE. FC = "998"
3) T-Rex ID 159, mission Hiss + no PE. FC = "999"
4) LCC ID 141 (tower), mission Tow + no PE. FC = "nic"
5) Planet with 49 defense posts

I expected them to fight the Gorbie in the order shown, and to trounce it accordingly.
Instead the Madonzilla attacked first, then TRex 159 then TRex 146 then the LCC and then the planet. Everything got wiped out.

What am I missing? Why didn't T-Rex 146 fight first?
Thanks!

Not a veteran, but here's what I've gathered from my experience and from the wiki: (http://vgaplanets.org/index.php/Combat_Order)

Lowest battlevalue fights first. If your ship has a numerical friendly code, its battlevalue is equivalent to that number. So s140 had battlevalue 998. If your ship has an alphanumerical friendly code, its battlevalue is 1000 plus 10 without kill mission set and plus 5 without PE set. So s146 had a battlevalue 1000, s159 had battlevalue 999, and s141 had battlevalue 1015. Thus your ships probably fought in order s140, s159, s146, s141. Does this help?

As far as I get it, Kill only gets you in combat, the friendly codes decide the order. Kill doesn't get you into combat before the others.

You fought in the exact order you should have done.

As above indicated numeric friendly codes go before alphanumerics.

Kill and PE only effect order if you tie with the same friendly code

Numbers mean you are more aggressive.

It is one of many non-intuitive things of this game.

Mind that the Gorbie must have had mission Kill and/or PE lizards, otherwise only the first T-Rex would've fought.

Immortalducklord gave it perfectly right

@The mentat: this is not correct. If you have a non-numerical friendly code, a mission other than KILL give + 10 to the battle value and having no primary enemy adds another 5.
So ship ID 500 with Kill mission will fight before ship ID 499 if that has no Kill mission. Otherway around if both have Kill mission (same PE) or no Kill mission (same PE).

@Zacha: Thx, I put what I ment wrong. The numerals would overrule the KILL if the KILL has no numeral. Didn't know about the details you provide here, so thanks for that. :)

Yup, that all makes sense and that's what happened. Expensive lesson learned - thank you Duck!
