Question about rioting colonist. So I started to use the planetary addon and the last turn did something with my taxes to my colonists and at 40%. If I have a star base would they destroy that if they were upset enough? I just had 2 star bases with all the colonist disappear for no reason although they did build the ships first.

The star base will vanish when there are no colonists on the planet. The colonists won't destroy the star base while rioting.

If they go to a civil war due to high taxes and begin killing each other off the star base will remain until they last colonist dies.

Planetary Management plugin I assume?

You have to run it once a Turn... even if you didn't use it, you have to adjust your taxes each Turn.

You made a mistake in other words.

So I looked at my turn and I did run it and all the planets are using the 70-100% growth but when I look at the tax some are being taxed 60% while others are being taxed 86%. The ones at 86 of course had my base. I have tried running it more than one and it doesnt appear to keep increase the tax rate so not sure how I made a mistake.

Guess I should have just kept to normal way i do turns instead of taking a short cut LOL

I've made the same mistake a few times. I usually set safe tax 70, run it, then next turn make sure to run it again or the tax rate will remain the same. Now I always do a quick check in the planetary management summary to look at planets where happiness is set to drop or tax look outrageously high.

The plug in itself is great :)

I had a similar situation when first using the plugin. Luckily I caught it in time. The Planetary Management plugin is a blessing, but can bite you if you don't start a game out with it from the beginning.

there are a couple of tax bugs in that plugin. they apply to high tax planets where you are making the max (5000 mc) but still overtax. i manually corrected it in my version and tried to contact the author but never got a response.

"using the 70-100% growth"

That isn't a thing. You are confusing HAPPINESS and TAX RATE.

Growth tax 70-100 means it won't tax the planet till it reaches (or will) 100 HAPPINESS, and the TAX RATE is the percent that will reduce the HAPPINESS to 70.

@jellyfishspam: I missed the email; I just went back through and saw it. I'll push those changes to the plugin here sometime soon. Thanks!

@Dotman: I had a situation with the plugin where a temp 50 planet reached 15 million natives on Growth Tax and the plugin overtaxed them to happiness 40. A bug?

Why would that be a bug? That cannot grow anymore, so 40 Happiness would be ideal.

Ah, true. I was under the assumption that natives stop paying taxes below happiness 70, but I stand corrected. So, @Dotman, not a bug. :)

you need to google vgaplanets tax calculator. and do it the old way using the calculator and double check and not rely totally on the app

Great plugin, I run lots of my own build methods. The only part I find annoying (when I don't notice it cycling though my planets) is that drop to 40 tax sometimes at maximum colonists (usually as borg), when I am trying to move that population to the next planet over.
The colonists stop growing under 70, so I am no longer at complete pop max.

The other good thing about the plug in (for high tax worlds) when you reach max population, set it to safe tax 40 and after running it, increase the tax on the population so that you get some riots for a while to drop mines / factories for higher future tax and the plugin will automatically take you back up to 40.
