Released ObjectSelection 0.11.1, fixing a bug when you were using @Big+Beefer's draw on desktop, and loaded it before ObjectSelection. Draw would not work anymore.

I should add, there are various changes under hood, resulting in slightly different behaviour here and there. I believe these to be improvements. If you disagree, let me know ;)

Released 0.11.2 fixing a problem when using the mouse and planets/ships were very close to each other on the screen (thx @snork for reporting)
Also tweaked selection such that when the mouse pointer changes shape, then selection should work.
(sidenote: touch already used a larger area for selection.)

You need McNimblesToolkit 0.15.2 for this update, which has also been released.

I can't find Toolkit 0.15.2 on your website. The link you provide is still version 0.15.1 (at least according to Tampermonkey).

It's 0.15.2.
Sometimes TamperMonkey refuses to check again, even when you order it to.

Maybe https://chmeee.org/ext/planets.nu/McNimblesToolkit-0.15.2.user.js can help you in the mean time.

hm. website was making a mess when clicking on the plugins. Artifact of upgrading a tool that I use to build it. Should be smoother now.

But I doubt that was causing you to not upgrade the toolkit.

ObjectSelection 0.11.3 should fix several issues (@snork), mostly because McNimblesToolkit had a bug; of that, 0.15.3 is released. Furthermore:
- enable markers from the mobile client to coexist with this plugin
- reinstate the middle mouse button for setting waypoints (@axp)
- do not set the same waypoint in sequence for a ship (no idea what host did with that weird instruction, probably not too good)

I hope this version is in a better state than the previous releases. If not, at least I hope that fixing further bugs should be easier.

@mcnimble, I wrote you a message on Slack. Go check it. :)

Thanks for your continuing work on your plugins. You are the champion, I use your plugins every day and love them!

I wouldn't mind a plugin that hides those annoying yellow boxes from around my planets, for when I'm not using Redraw & Filter... in case that's within your power.

Middle button doesn't work, always the same as left button. And right button opens the browser context menu ... can't remember whether this was before ... :-(

Hi McNimble,

on my system the middle button results in

event.which == 2 and event.button == 1 (you have 4)

while right button results in

event.which == 3 and event.button == 2 (you have none)

Ciao

code checks for event.which == 2 OR button==4, so should be fine.
(the button is for some backwards browser, I think)

Which browser are you using? For unrelated reasons, I had to install Windows 10 in VirtualBox, yesterday, but I have not gotten around to trying NU+plugins in Edge.

So I have more at my disposal to test than earlier on. And I have a mouse ;)

right button never did anything. checked whether I could make it to do subsequent waypoints, but the context menu is in the way. It can be disabled, but that is not considered a good practise (I agree with that, what if some browser did a brilliant thing like having an entry to take a screenshot from it? would be super useful for planets).

As you were! I had a bug in my "bug fix" ... :-(

var setWaypoint = middle || right event.ctrlKey || event.shiftKey || event.altKey;

(forgot the || between "right" and "event.ctrlKey)

At the moment left or right click immediately changes the "selected object", even if there was nothing to select at the place where the left click happened. I.e. ending up nowhere ...

And middle button is just nothing ... even better than selecting nirvana, but still frustrating :-(

v0.11.5
There was a problem deselecting objects on the desktop version.
That meant that subsequent selecting acted inconsistently.

Neither ctrl-left, alt-left nor middle does anything, left or right deselects instantly when clicking in deep space.

@axp What OS/browser/monkey? What other plugins? In which order? ctrl/alt-left and middle should set waypoint.

Clicking selects, when you select in deep space, there is nothing. Click on a minefield or something, almost nothing, maybe it makes sense, then.

Darn, still the same problem:

1. left & right deselects if there is nothing to select (was different)
2. middle, shift-left|middle|right and ctrl-left|middle|right does nothing
3. alt-left|middle|right sets waypoint (widthout smart use of warpwells)

Here's my list of plugins in current order:

Planets.nu - planetary connections 2.0.2(axp)
Planets.nu - improved Ship List View 3.0.34(axp)
Planets.nu - improved Planet List View 1.0.12(axp)
Planets.nu - Enemy Ship List Plugin 1.39
Display Clans and Temperature on Starmap 2.0.1(axp)
Planets.nu - ion storm prediction 0.3
McNimble's Toolkit 0.15.4
McNimble's Remove Mover and Zoom 1.0.1
McNimble's No Animations 0.9.1
McNimble's Quick Reports 1.0
Keyboard 1.1.1
Object Selection 0.11.6

(1) is a recent feature (just don't click if there is nothing to select)
(3) is an old feature that even NU desktop has.
(1/2/3) right button isn't used at all, never was.

(2) is a bug. Your list of plugins allows me to reproduce on the desktop version.

Finally! (2) works again ... now how can get rid of your "recent feature"?

My problem: The background of the starmap is kind of blurry and sometimes I'm not sure whether I "see somthing" or not. When clicking there and nothing gets selected I know there was nothing. But now the focus changes and I'm still not sure whether there is "something" or not :-(

Or please make it configurable :-}

Ah, that's the reason. Redraw And Filter removes the background and highlights all objects, so thats why I am not bothered by it. I'll have to think about this.

@Axp, ah I hadn't noticed the click to deselect thing before.
I can see how it might be annoying.

@mcnimble, if I could give some constructive user feedback/suggestions:

- When I click on a planet on the map, I want to go to that planet. But if I am already selecting a ship in orbit, when I click on the planet on the map, it won't go to the planet like it used to. (Did it stop doing this because Nu's interface changed?)
I was in the habit of clicking on the planet on the map any time I wanted to look at the planet. Now I have to press P on the keyboard. :P

- When waypoints are off, I still want to see the waypoint for my currently selected ship. (The yellow one). Sometimes I want to turn off waypoints for other ships, but still be able to clearly and easily see where my selected ship is going, when I click on it.

- Shift-D for dashboard is great! Is it possible that you could make hitting Shift-D again to go back to starmap?

- When I do "show colonists" on the map, I don't want to see enemy colonists. This is not useful information to me. And it makes it less visually clear what you're looking at since the clan circles are all the same colour. Enemy clans could be red... or better yet, maybe you could allow a toggle between "none / your clans / all clans".

Thanks! Keep up the good work! ^_^
(I honestly don't know if I could play this game anymore without R&F and keyboard shortcuts. Going back to the Nu interface is so painful...)

@psydev Don't know how often I tried shift-D to toggle between starmap and dashboard but ended up on starmap with search for char "D" ... :-(
So I second your proposal to *toggle* between starmap and dashboard rather than just switching *from* starmap *to* dashboard!

I also second the idea to differ between "colonists" (white), "allied colonists" (green) and "enemy colonists" (red)!

Shift-D: released in Keyboard 1.1.2 (also tweak 's' key from ships and planets)

Colonists: Colors have meaning. would like to avoid a 3-value toggle. How about faintly dashed for enemy planets? That way we can also distinguish between own and enemy colonists in one location.

Waypoint: noted.

selecting planet: hm. it's a change that I made. But I'm not too sure it is a good change, as is. More later.

mm, two enemy ships with clans above your planet, full visibiity game. Three circles, in fact.

That would be en the color of the races. Makes sense?

I'm trying to write down what I want. It's not going to convince you of anything. I need to sketch an Ultimate Object Selection, which I cannot without pictures. I also need you to understand the current situation, which is so complex (the mobile version made a true mess of certain things), that I'm unable to understand it myself.

In any case, in my local version, I removed the images in the left pane (i.e. of the selected object). I think one or two changes that are a consequence of that, made it into the releases, because I didn't realize it makes little sense when the images are still there.

RE: Released ObjectSelection 0.11.1, fixing a bug when you were...Write Reply
Released 0.11.8

@psydev OK, reverted the change; should now reselect the 'first' object on a location when clicking there again.

Also, fixed a funny side-effect: a waypoint will snap to another waypoint. When setting a waypoint to a planet, with various other ships already flying into the warp well, it would set the waypoint to the nearest other waypoint, rather than the nearest side of the warp well.

@axp: to see whether there is something in the fuzzy background, look at the hover text. Assuming desktop version and use of a mouse. If it shows only coordinates, there is nothing. A visibility line indicates a nebula. radiation == star cluster, voltage == ion storm.
