Thanks for the Docu, it is very helpful.
But could someone please add the damage formula for ion storm into the ion storm help file. This is an essential information. Yes, you added to link to further information but why not adding the formula right into the page itself?
is there a copyright issue with it?

Our documenters prefer to confirm information before making it official. It may not be right for Planets Nu but may have included it for information.

Documenters are volunteers with limit access to the host code.

Admin provide some information but are not interested in updating documentation.

People volunteered to update the documentation and other assist finding that information.

Problem being that information about damage from ion storms are very specific so the Documenters cannot guarantee that information is right.

Joshua or BB may have changed the damage code.

So Joshua or BB will have to confirm that detail but they may not want to as they may want some unknowns.

i don't see any benefit in keeping relevant rules (and formulas) hidden especially in a strategy game like planets where everything is depending on knowledge of the way the system works.

i understand that the documenters don't want to post wrong information, but they could post something like "until proven wrong, the currently known formula is..."

Well if you want to press the contact button and ask Admin to pass everything they know about the site onto the documenters I think they would be very greatful.

I think as the docs give you a link it may imply that is what they think it currently is.

I am not a documentor so I will allow them to confirm your question

@Grisu: Lower your expectations of Documentation and expect to disagree with the volunteer's decisions.

They are currently documenting what requires fuel to work only in one article... and only listing what doesn't require fuel to work. I predicted this would cause the questions about what requires fuel to increase and that things we don't know if they require fuel or not will go unknown longer and that there was no way that we knew of everything that worked without fuel.

Three times spread out over years we discovered something else that worked without fuel... there could be more, hard to say... we have no idea what has been confirmed to require to use fuel thanks to this absolutely retarded decision.

Please feel free to ignore any comments Glyn may choose to make on Documentation. He's just unhappy that we don't bow to his superior experience in Technical Documentation (ZERO) and do everything he wants us to do in the way he wants us to do it.

WRT the three errors found in the out-of-fuel page, those weren't errors in how we documented the information, but information that we didn't have. Had this information been spread out over multiple pages, there would have been three errors in three pages, instead of three errors in one page. In addition, the additional work of keeping the related information the same would have resulted in many more "human" errors in the documentation.

Thank you for providing the above information to the OP. In fact, we have zero access to the Host code (not "limited", except that it's limited to none). I don't expect this to change in the foreseeable future.

@Grisu,

There are currently four active Documentation Editors. All four of us are volunteers, under the general leadership of Gnerphk (a professional writer). In addition, we have jobs and personal lives. It takes time to determine/verify equations of this nature. While it's on the list, that list is quite long.

We DO NOT copy documentation from other sites; it's a Copyright issue. We develop documentation here, sometimes starting from something that was written by someone else.

Finally, Stefan (@Streu here) put a LOT of effort into creating the excellent documentation on his site. He had access to the THost binary, so he was able to decompile it and determine the exact equations. We don't have access even to the binaries for Planets.nu, so we have to derive equations from the results. As I'm sure you're aware, that can take a considerable amount of time.

Until we have the time to adequately address situations like this, our approach is to point players to the best information available on the subject. Thanks to the excellent work done by Stefan, pages on his site are frequently linked to.
