When being dragged through a minefield by an ion storm,...

When being dragged through a minefield by an ion storm, does a ship still strike mines or is it like being towed through? For some reason I always thought that such a ship would not strike any mines, but I can't find it documented anywhere. THX

The ship being towed suffers no mine collisions. If he ends the turn in a web, he does suffer the 25 fuel loss per turn

I had a strange situation too. One ship being towed ends up in a webmine field, no colision. The tower ship loses 25 kt fuel after movement but the towed ship does not. Any clue ?

@megalomaniac The ship in question is not being "towed," it is being dragged by an ion storm.

Ahh, sorry I misread about about the storm. I haven't experienced this on Nu but my prior experience and dim recollection is that being dragged through a minefield by an ion storm is like being towed...there were no collisions. Nu may be different as I haven't experienced this yet.

With regards to Codol's ships, he didn't experience collisions either I see. He didn't specifically mention an ion storm but did mention the tower lost 25 fuel after movement and had no collision. Webdrain happens before normal movement at host step 48 but after Ion drag movement at Host step 39. So it seems he is saying that he had two ships, one towing the other and both got dragged at step 39 but only the towing ship got drained at step 48. I would have suspected that both ships should have been drained as they both reside in a webfield at that moment in time. I can see why neither ship has a collision but I don't see why the towed ship that was dragged into the web didn't also get drained.

Is it possible that just by coincidence the ship which did not lose fuel had a fcode that matched the web mine field? Try changing the towing ship fcode to the same as the the towed ship which did not lose fuel and see if neither loses fuel next turn?

In my situation it is a Biocide towing an Annihilation. NO ION STORM at all, they were outside a webmine field before movement, got inside the webmine field, no hit, the Biocide lost 25 kt mass but the Annihilation did not change mass. The FC code match is highly unlikely but not impossible... Any other ideas before I state it is a bug, report it and then get a real answer and make a fool of myself again? :D

Never mind.. I think I found what happened... web drain is before movement, so it is only a coincidence that the biocide consumed 25 kt of fuel for the movement of a few LY towing the Anni... Hopefully I can keep them inside the minefield and drain them next turn.
