Well, I admit I don't know for sure. That formula is just what I came up with from "reverse" calculations on the mercenary leaderboard, but it worked on all the examples there that I tried. I don't know why it's divided by 12, maybe because you tend to get more rounded numbers? I would have thought 11 as well.
I don't really agree with your logic on why it can't be this way. The whole point of the mercenary ranks is to reward players who play many different races. Those who play 4-5 to a high rank aren't punished, they simply aren't as qualified as mercenaries. They'll get rewarded by a high placement on the leaderboard ranks for each individual race they play. If you look at the merc leaderboard, you won't see any players that have played so few races. |
