Go to any game.

Press the VCR button where you see combats.

Then in the top right is a battle simulator button which opens up the battle simulator.

Remember to assign a race as if you don't it can cause problems.

Well, we have a simulator now., I mean one that can give you results of a number of simulation (the same battle many times) But not sure how good is it. Or may be a win the lottery! Who know.
Last week I was simulating battles between firecloud and patriots

the simulator indicates that the patriot wins with 90% chance. THe real battle was that that firecloud (mk4 and Xray) destroy my 2 patriots, and the shiels of the firecloud after the two battle remained practically intact..

Is that a 0.1 X 0.1 event ?
Did I win the lotery?

There is another one here that many people use (myself included) when they want to repeat a situation thousands of times:
http://planetscentral.com/play/sim.cgi?shiplist=stdlist

Remember to set Host as NuHost in the Options dialog!

It's also important to take into account battle order/aggressiveness when setting up the simulations.

Allow me to correct my statament.
Actually the results of the simulator are the expected.

A firecloud need to hit 4 torps in a row without failing in order to kill the patriot

given the probability of missing the target is 0.35 then the chances of killing the patriots are
0.65*0.65*0.65*0.65 (17%) and the simulator say that the chances of win is 13%, more or less the same?

What I am not sure is weather the real battle uses the same engine?

@Sudakan,

> What I am not sure is weather the real battle uses the same engine?

The combat engine in the Host, including the RNG tables, is the same as in the Client.

"Sudakan: What I am not sure is weather the real battle uses the same engine?"

Well we only have what we've been told... so no one can really answer that question honestly besides BB/Joshua.

@Glyn,

> Well we only have what we've been told

This is false. We also have the Client code and the results from numerous combats.

1. The results of the combat, including the ammo used and the damage to the ship, in the VCR exactly match the start condition of the ships. This clearly shows that the combat engine in the Host matches the combat engine in the Client.

2. Code review of the Client shows that, once past the setup of the seed (provided for VCR, randomly generated for the SIM), the same code is used.

Based on the above, we know that the simulator in the Client matches the Host.

@Whisperer: Sudakan was clear that he was comparing the VCR battle simulator to the unknown Host code. It is really stupid to point out we have the Client code when that is what we are talking about, and without the Host code to compare, there is nothing gained by having the Client code, we already can see the results of the Client VCR.

You are not an authority on what is in the Host code as otherwise BB wouldn't have to keep popping in to correct your false statements.

So all was have is what BB/Joshua have stated, like I stated. Now please shut up, and stop trolling... how many times do you need to be told to stop trying to talk to me?

False. Any competent programmer can see that the VCR and Simulator call the same routines. As we KNOW that the VCR is correct, we therefore KNOW that the Simulator is correct.

@Decius Thank you. That will do well for what I need.

I know I can do it in the VCR, but I find it annoying to have the same game open in two different windows, cause I keep getting a popup if I advance the game in one window and not the other.

It's wasn't a huge deal, but it's nice to have this option.

@Glyn,

The proof is in the code. If you don't have the ability to read that code, the problem is yours, not mine.

Proof presented.

@Glyn,

Some days you are the most helpful person there is in the community, give advise and guidance to whoever asks and other days you are just a twat.

God it would be nice to know which day it is going to be, maybe you could send out a message at the start of each day saying either, Today I am going to be helpful or Today I am going to be a twat, then I know to read your comments or press ignore.

@Markstafford99: Scroll up and look at who decided to start arguing with whom. Had I actually engaged Whisperer's attempt to argue instead of refuse to participate, you'd have a point. But your post is 100% out of place here, because Whisperer is the only one arguing and I have the right to refuse to participate in arguements.
__

@Whisperer: "The proof is in the code"

Good for it... now either prove your claim or shut up.... currently you are just arguing as if BB hasn't just corrected you multiple times this month and your word somehow means something here still. Psydev even proved you wrong this week, and you still couldn't admit you were talking out your arse... how about you round this up; ( ° ͜ʖ°)╭∩╮

Instead of arguing at me, why don't you just provide the proof for your claims, or shut up... whining over and over that I won't argue with you is retarded.

The proof is in the code. If you don't have the ability to read that code, the problem is yours, not mine.

As you don't seem to be able to find the code, here it is:
http://play.planets.nu/1.22/nu.js or the more readable version, which is at http://test.planets.nu/1.22/nu.js

@Glyn,

I don't give a flying phart about you arguments with other community members, all I care about is whether my day is going to be ruined by your vitriolic diatribe.
I suppose today is going to be one of these twat days - ignore

@Whisperer: Why should I have to do something because you are too stupid to provide proof instead of arguing. Instead of freaking out because I won't argue with you, just shut up then, or provide the proof. Either option works, because either way it has nothing to do with me.

Now leave me a alone. Did you not learn "No means no" ? Are you a rapist? Is this what you are going to do just because I refuse to argue with you?

Do the entire community a huge favour, stop stalking me, stop arguing with everyone and shut up.

@Glyn,

> provide the proof

I have done so. If you mistakenly believe there's something missing in that proof, please clarify that need so that it may be addressed.

> Now leave me alone.

If you want to be left alone, it is reasonable and appropriate for you to leave me alone. You have not done that, as is clearly demonstrated by the 5th and 6th responses to the OP (my first post in this thread, followed by your first post in this thread). By claiming that I haven't proven my point, but choosing to not clarify what you think is missing, you're inviting a reply.

If you don't want me responding to your lies, don't make them. It's really that easy.

@Whisperer: "I have done so"

Good, now all you have left to do is shut up!

"If you mistakenly believe there's something missing in that proof, please clarify that need so that it may be addressed."

What part of provide the proof or shut up is confusing you? I refuse to argue with you, meaning 'argue' is off the table, leaving you two options, provide the proof, or shut up.

"Whisperer: If you want to be left alone, it is reasonable and appropriate for you to leave me alone."

Scroll up moron, you are the only one trying to argue... I don't even know what that is, because I have 100% not participated in arguing with you here.

"Whisperer: If you don't want me responding to your lies, don't make them. It's really that easy."

I didn't lie, and no one is going to believe you just because you claim it is so.

Wrong again. The response I'm quoting from is an argument.

> just because you claim it is so.

That's why I provided links to the code. The reader can either choose to believe my claim, read the code to verify my claim, or be ignorant.

@Whisperer: Yes technically I'm arguing that I refuse to argue with you, but I'm ignoring whatever bullcrap you are trying to argue about. Provide the proof or shut up... really ANYTHING besides trying to argue would make everyone happy.

Are you done yet? Is this about you having to get the last word in?
