Nu Player Power Rankings - End of Year 2011Write Reply
The first full calendar year of Nu Planets has almost ended.  Many fine Commanders have entered countless galaxies.  Some have done well.  Others have not done quite as well, but learned many tactics and strategies to improve their future performance.  And many Commanders have realized that their lot in life is not meant for space, sometimes even departing without saying goodbye.

But what Commanders have distinguished themselves?  It is hard for any one of us to easily know.  The official Nu Leaderboard gives us a nice indication on how well different players are playing each race, but many of the great Commanders play two or more VGAP races.  So, until Nu is able to prioritize providing us a second Leaderboard for Total Achievement Score for all Nu Galaxies, I have put together my own little spreadsheet.  It only does so much, since the effort for me is quite manually intensive (heavy cut and paste activity).  But it allows a view of what players have done well this past year.

The following attachment shows players' Total Achievement Score, and includes below Total Score what Race Achievement Scores were used to make up the total score.  While only players that are currently active and with a Top Ten finish in at least one Race were included in the spreadsheet, each player's achievement score for all the Races played were included, as long as their Achievement score was at least 100 for that Race.  So, as a somewhat-accurate (not totally accurate) measure, for each player there is also an Indicator # for "Score / # of Turns" -- to highlight those players that were able to score a high number of achievement points for number of turns played.

Please include my usual caveats when checking out this page -- for a variety of reasons, some of the best Nu Planets players might be lower on the spreadsheet or not on the spreadsheet at all.  Also, it is just a snapshot in time.  For example, hours after I finished the spreadsheet, Joshua won the Dagaba System, boosting his Total Achievement Score from 2372 to 3010, and his Points per Turn from 6.9 to 8.7.  But the chart is not updated to show this impressive boost.  Nevertheless, I hope it serves as a interesting chart on how well some Commanders have fared so far in Nu VGA Planets.

Good work, but you forgot some people with higher totals (at least you forgot one).

XD

Anyway it is a good work, and Nu should have this info available as well as the usual lists divided in races.

Cool draven.  Nice.  Yes, their are are some nice scoring Privateers like you that deserve to be on the list.  Consider yourself one of the people I was talking about when I said that some of the best Nu players might not be on the spreadsheet at all :).

In fact, it is possible a player could be #11 in each race and deserve to be in the Top Ten.  But then I would have had to take a good amount of time to hunt for them beyond the main page Leaderboard and believe me when I tell you that the spreadsheet already took me a decent amount of hours to do already.  Hopefully, in the near future, Nu or someone with awesome programming skill can do it more comprehensively by calculating total scores taken from all the individual Race leaderboards.

I have played with sants, and I can tell you from experience that he is about as good an ally as you could ask for.  He can be counted on to watch his own butt properly and will gladly give you anything you want to help you with your plans.  He communicates well in at least two languages. He knows all the tricks and makes very few errors.  I do not know how he can find the time to conduct so many games with that level of attention to detail.  Just an all around solid player.  While the ranking system is certainly not perfect, it definitely picked out a tremendous player for first.

Thanks for putting in the work, bondservant.

Hi Guys,
this is only an scoreboard, i have played and continue playing some games with different races because i enjoy playing the different strategies, but i don´t consider me the number one, there are lots of players better than me. Daniel is an incredible strategic director, Dines is a fantastic player, nitemare is like the vgaplanets bible, sakawa, ofg04 and Helen are the best partners that i had in this last games...without good allies is imposible to win.
Thanks to all of you!!

Thanks for your work bondservant, these statistics are at least very interesting.
