I'd like to have a "reply" button directly attached on the message view pane in the UI.

Also, a "send message" functionality in the same UI.  It makes little sense to go to the Diplomacy page to send a message.

It would be really great to be able to see a message history as well, without having to use the time machine to step backwards in the turn history.

Yup the whole messaging needs optimising to make it more user friendly, but it is working fine
