Utility Script: Territory Map Plugin
__________________________________

I ported the 'Territory Map' addon from the old client version to a proper plugin. It allows to overlay a 'territory map' over the starmap that is either colored by player or by alliance (currently only members of own alliance are merged to one color).

The different maps can be activated and deactivated through Map Tools menu.

The old addon had some performance issues in Firefox, but the ported plugin seems just fine and quick in both Firefox and Chrome.
The plugin interface at new somehow limits drawing to  zooms > 100% only. I contacted Joshua about it and will update as soon as I know more.

I'm wondering if this is similar to the visible range/detect range of Echo view.

Figak, here is another screenshot that you might recognize... :)

Btw. Joshua enabled plugin drawing at all zoom levels. So that is working now.

That was a nice battle a the end. :)

Do you remember receiving 35792 report messages on the last turn? Lots of little minefields and lots of sweepers...

I didn't remember, I mean sure. 1k messages fine, but 35k?

OMG, 331 planets in total. What a slaughter!

Yes, I was shocked as well. Didn't remember it to be that bad. Lindybomber was holding out in the corner and was power mining with hundreds of small minefields.
Looks like we also destroyed a big bunch of Kwesy's last ships that turn. Big showndown with a lot of teasing around his HW.

After looking in detail at some of those messages, I am sure there is some data corruption happening: In the last turn your build more than 56 Borg cubes with 49 bases... You must eb the best Borg commander ever. ;)

RE: Utility Script: Territory Map PluginWrite Reply
I'm not that good... oh yes the names of the bird ships in the final fight are a laugh.

The best part was being able to support all open fronts and, yeah, Lindybomber did put up a proper-fight for me.

The move on the empire (hpotter) was also very nice, getting that LSDF with a probe, build a base in his back door and sandwich him, but respect that you did most of the combat. Those mk7 cloakers were sooo much fun. Good that we have the time machine (albeit only from mid game).

It's hard life as a bird, my other race.  You asked for us to pluck you, so we did :)

Back on topic of plugins, would it be possible to have a plugin that allows you to see your "visibile range" (i.e. 300 ly from all ships and planets) and your "sensor range" (200 ly)?

As a bird, it is useful to be reminded of how far you can gather intelligence.

I used to do that all the time when I used VPA Figak. Attach some 200 and 300 ly circles to my ships to be reminded of what I could actually see. It would definitely be nice to have!

Along the same idea, I'd also like to see something that can show you how much territory in Nebula's you have actually mapped out, and how far in you can currently see.

RE: Utility Script: Territory Map PluginWrite Reply
The Empire was quite a tough nut to crack. And then some ludicrous Bird tried to mess with my siege plans... tz tz tz...

So yep, Kwesy was asking for a smacking and his ship names were always great to look at when they exploded... :D

That would be a really nice plugin. :) I'll have to think a bit about it, but shouldn't be to difficult. Do you have screenshots of that feature from Echo View? I never used it.

It's like the shadow of laying mines from every planet and ship, but a very thin colour.

RE: Utility Script: Territory Map PluginWrite Reply
Thanks! This works great in Chrome/Tampermonkey. It only takes a second to advance through time using the i/o keys. One can start on turn 1 and watch our empire/alliance grow. The alliance feature is great in a team game.

My computer makes a squish sound, like a heartbeat, when I use the i/o keys. If I start at the beginning of a game and go to the end at 1 second per turn, it seems like my empire has a beating heart (freeeeeeeeaky!)

1. Question - Is there a way to get 30% zoom? At 20%, the whole map fits on my screen, but at 40%  it doesn't. (Joshua, could we get a 30% hot key?)

2. Idea - What if the info (planet ownership) was put in a file? (Turn 1, Planet 1, owner 0-30, Planet 2, Owner 0-30 . . . . . Turn 2, Planet 1, Owner 0-30, etc.)  Then, we could quickly go through everyone's turn in a completed game and build up this file.

3. Then, there could be another button (Territory Map, Alliance Map, History Map). When this button was on, the data from the file would be gotten and we could see all races grow together.

We could actually pass these files around.

Also we could do a running commentary on the game and put it on youtube.

Regardless, thanks for the work.

Mjs, that almost sounds like you are talking about the timelapse project... Kwesy and I haven't really pushed that forward for some time, but at least the map in this plugin is from that project.

I just updated it again to make it worked with the new sphere map addons.
At the same time I also moved it over to Greasyfork:
