Straight destructive force?

Gorbie or BCC most likely- but you'll still sometimes lose to a Rush or Golem on the left- even virgo should give you pause 1v1

The carrier on the left usually wins, aka the defensive one...usually.

Ship not ships @Loner.

Gorbie or Bio used by own race.
Maxed out FED Biocide is the single best ship in combat. Doesn't much matter which side, they usually win regardless.

Loner you forgot to add Emork's Blood, Emork's Bones, Emork's Flesh, Emork's Mind, and Emork's Spirit.
Don't want to run out of fighers and 2x mass is good vs any torp ship. plus what ever else you get.
Though will all the extras may want to go with the Biocide for extra cargo space.

Yes the Gorbie owned by the EE.

Who have never won a Championship game, are second from bottom in the Map rankings, usually the last slot to fill in all 11 player games.

So is having the best fighting ship an advantage if you have little else to go with it?

The EE is boring. That's why I will never play them. Clumsy like the Robot. But without the mines. And the (real) free fighters. EE intel is very good obviously, but this usually helps a proper allied race more than the EE itself. EE is always first target for any neighboring cloaker race, especially the Priv. Or the Crystal. Or everyone else. Because they are such a soft target in the beginning.

An evolved EE can be very dangerous. The Gorbies are awesome. If the empire gets hands on cloakers, it is absolutely deadly. They are somehow like the Borg, but without the mobillity and the economic snowball effect.

Therefore the EE thrives when their neighbors are peaceful. Like in beginner games. Or when they get support by a proper race.

But why not play the proper race in the first place?

Hi @Martinr

Please don't discount the power of the frigate.

It has a small fuel tank and mass, so when it explodes from a mine hit you generally do not lose a lot of fuel. Also as they are so fragile you save a lot of fuel moving them around.

It only has 80 cargo, so those 80 mark 8 torps lay down a massive 8000 mines which means you are luckily forced into starbasing weak planets very close to front line and tempting a cloaking enemy. That way you can go back and forth to that planet many times to generate a maximum minefield without straying to far from positions of power. It also allows you to refill that small tank.

It also forces you to have defense in depth which is very lucky, so all your frigates are spread back from the front line so you can daisy chain minefields lay, sweep move forward 81 to be in range of the next frigate, lay, sweep with only a 10% torpedo loss along the way, but it does dissuade all those pesky Falcon's from attacking your rear areas as you don't have any.

With all those golden attributes, how could you overlook the Frigate!
