When in host order is the ship mission reset to "exploration" for ships that have no fuel?
I can't find the position in host order for this.

"The starship is robbed , or is inside of a Crystal web minefield. When this happens, the starship's mission is immediately reset to Exploration, unless it's set to Beam up Fuel. The starship's speed and waypoint are left unchanged."

Source: How to play - out of fuel
Starships —> Fuel —> Out Of Fuel
So sounds like there is no single location for the reset.

And what about ships that in the current turn have 0 fuel? i set a mission to e.g. mine sweep. When will the mission be set back to "exploration" in the next turn? I'm asking as i have an allied starship transferring fuel to my fuelless ship and want to know if my order will be executed.

"Any action not listed above can't be done without fuel, even if the action consumes no fuel."
Mine Sweep is not one listed.

"The starship mission resets happen at different times in the Host, depending on external conditions and the particular mission. Certain passive missions will not be automatically reset without an external trigger, such as web fuel drain or the ship moving."

Host order-
10. Most Mission 9, in order of ID:

13. Transfers (ship to foreign ship)

Fuel transfer is after mission 'Mine Sweep'. So the guess is as long as you don't have "external trigger" your mission stays and NEXT turn you have fuel n you mine sweep?

Mine sweep isn't a "Mission 9" mission.

11. Most Mission 9, in order of ID:

13. Transfers (ship to foreign ship)

21. Mine sweep/scoop

So, if you have zero fuel, receive fuel, and nothing resets your mission (check the list in the Out of Fuel page), you should be able to sweep.

This is something that hasn't received a lot of testing.

Thanks for your clarification Co.Khn and Whisperer.
Seems i will have to test it to be really sure (external events).

"Whisperer: This is something that hasn't received a lot of testing."

No shit... that is why FOUR times the claim that everything you can do without fuel being listed, has turned out to be wrong.

I don't even know what to test because they are not documenting what does require fuel.

Having no fuel at the start of the turn is a bad situation.

You having no other ship or not over your own planet with fuel is a worse situation.

So at Host 1 you have no fuel in the ship and have to rely on a foreign ship transfer.

I think Host 11 should be a Ship Mission is set. Or maybe earlier in the turn. Maybe possibly Host 1.

So Host checks if you have fuel. If your mission requires fuel to operate then it resets it to Explore as that mission is not going to happen.

Then you get Host 13 after this meaning the ship now has fuel but no missions that require fuel will work.

The later you have mission cancellation due to running out of fuel.

But if you start with no fuel then missions that require fuel should not work.

Its punishment / a disadvantage of ending last turn with no fuel. And it cannot be remedied by host 1 transfer of fuel from your own ship or planet.

So ship missions should not work if they need fuel.

I tested.
If an enemy or allied ship transfers fuel in T(x) to a fuelless ship, this ship can set its mission to Minesweep in T(x) fuelless and still successfully perform minesweep missions in T(x+1). The mission is not reset to "explore".

@Martinr,

> I think Host 11 should be a Ship Mission is set. Or maybe earlier in the turn. Maybe possibly Host 1.

Mission is set by the player and happens before the Host process starts. It doesn't get a step in the Host Order. Some user changes/settings/requests get validated in step 1A (Complete Host Order).

Under VGAP, there was something known as "Mission 9". These were race-specific missions. In Planets.nu, the "Mission 9" missions actually have a mission code of 8, but they're still called "Mission 9" for historical reasons.

The COMPLETE list of "Mission 9" missions is: Super Refit, Hisssss!, Super Spy, Pillage, Rob, Repair Self, Lay Web Mines, Dark Sense, Build Fighters (Robots and Colonies), RGA and Swarm.

The presence of RGA in the above list is why the Rebels don't need to set "Build Fighters" or use LFM to build fighters. If they have the minerals and supplies it happens. For them, "Build Fighters" is always on, even when it's not.

> So Host checks if you have fuel.

Yes, but the question is when does it get checked. For the most part, the check for fuel happens when the mission is attempted.
