Data extraction is underway

Sunday, August 08, 2010
The team has begun extracting data from the original file formats and publishing it here on the website.  The data is being moved to a database where it will be possible to report against and begin tracking statistics.  This first step is creating what we will call the Master Database.

The first result of the data extraction can be found here:

VGA Planets Ship Database

Nice pictures, I just wish they looked more like the 3.0 graphics

@mesh_hong: the funny thing about that is these are the name exactly as they are in the current 3.0 game. The information is pulled directly from the files to our database. There also happens to be 4 planet names which are used twice.

Very cool. Where did the pictures come from?
I love the looks of my old time favourite the instrumentality :)

If they add an ability to mod the graphics I'm going to create a BSG:TOS graphics pack for the COM & Robots

It does look nice--I agree with Lindy, though, that it would be cool if the Colonies ships were more accurate (like the Instrumentality you have). Also, the alchemy ships are Babylon 5 & 4?

But again, great start.
