Host Time Shuffle

Monday, May 16, 2011
Due to the large amount of system resources running host takes and the number of players who sign in to make last minute turn changes we have shuffled the host times for the games which host at 22:00 (there are 142 of them now). Host times on many games have been moved up to 6 hours sooner. Games hosting on Monday May 15th have not been affected.  Please double check your games and adjust your planning accordingly.

We hope this will resolve the problem of system downtime which has affected games a few times over the past month.

Never mind, my fault. I saw the creation time and no the next host. Lest see when the host runs today when the next one it's gonna be.

Game "8050: Garfield System" has been run yesterday although it was scheduled today - does this have to do with it?

good call trying to minimise the crashes.....but could we have a short explanation of what happens when there is a crash? do you delay hosts? everytime it happens (as it is happening now) i can't wait around for it to come back, and i have to wonder if it'll just run like normal and i'll miss half my turn because i had to leave and do other things.

hmm, perhaps you should give a warning next time ^^

I noticed that you only changed some host times by an hour or 2. Wouldn't it be easier on the servers to spread out the host times over the full 24 hour period?

I agree that this is a good solution. However, I'd recommend moving the host times backward instead of forward next time. That avoids 'surprises'.

If there is another shuffle/time change. It helps to have a message in the game thread saying old time x new time y.

We shouldn't have to move them again, there aren't so many games at the same time now. New games are now being spread randomly by minute over the entire 24 hour clock.
