A new game format has been released which is designed to make learning to play Planets fun and interesting for both the learners and the teacher. It is called Mentor vs Midshipmen.
In this format 1 experience player (Lt.Commander or above) plays from the center of the map against 14 new players (midshipmen). All players will be able to see the actions of all other players. The Mentor's role is to teach the midshipmen how to build their economy for the first 30 turns by explaining their own actions and answering questions. The midshipman can begin to attack the mentor at any time. The mentor wins if he survives to turn 80 otherwise the midshipmen win!
It should be a very difficult challenge for the Mentor and a low pressure and fun first experience for the Midshipmen.
