New Planet Collection - Special Thanks

Monday, June 06, 2011
We'd like to send out a big thank you to Matthias Kuehl (aka Madinson) who has created an entire new collection of 100 planet images. Matthias has been a long time supporter of VGA Planets with his hosting site http://vgaplanets.de.

You will now see the new planet pictures in game, some of them have moons, rings, different atmospheres etc. Its an incredible collection and took a lot of work to produce.

Thank you very much Matthias!

good set but...

shadows from satellites seem to be unnatural:

and x-rings like this make me terrified:

A good idea, perhaps everyone should design a planet xD
And if your planet belongs to the best planets, you can decide which planet gets it ^^

Thank you all for your comments. For sure, they are not perfect and in the next step I would use your critic (shadows/rings) to optimize some.
The target is to have 500 different planets - having 100 in game was the first step...

Oh more could be coming? Cool. Perhaps we might see a Class Y planet that has a energy-field ring around the planet that looks eerily like a huge web surrounding the planet?

I noticed the new and improved graphics in the last few turns. They look great, really great.
