Search for Planet and Ship

Tuesday, May 10, 2011
Everyone has been waiting for this for a long time. You can now search for ships and planets using the Search (s) map tool. Hotkey is "s". Just type in the planet name or id number and the screen will center and highlight the planet. Same goes for ships. Search away!

Now that we have a lot of map tools, the next thing that could be done is further organize them. (e.g. zooming, resource surveys, drawing, etc.)

Outstanding! Thanks Joshua!

Here's an improvement idea for searches:
1) There are often ships with identical names, such as "Cobol". Provide a NEXT or PREVIOUS feature to scroll through all identically named ships. Currently only the 1st ship with this name is found; other identically named ships are not found.
2) Allow generic searches. i.e., if one types "Wood", the search function would find Wood's Planet.

Excellent improvement, thank you very much. This eases the communication with allied races a lot.

I agree that it would be nice if it were to have the filter and default wildcard features like hpotter posted.

Partly good:
System centers the screen on the object but most of the time I'm still unable to find it by clicking around the center ...
Would it be possible to highlight and/ or open the object screen
