The oldest game on Nu - 1004: Beta 3

Friday, December 02, 2011
Recently a number of very long running games have come to a close. It seems appropriate to highlight our current longest running game Beta 3. Beta 3 was the 7th full running game to launch here at Nu. It began in the Nu Year -0002 which is November 2010 Earth time and so it has been running now for more than a year and has seen 162 turns.

While the Cyborg player has seen many replacements over time, kudos go out to four players: Darvster, Calbasi, Xorx and BigBurtie who have been in this one since the beginning. It looks like the privateers (Xorx) are out to a long lead in planets but there is a ton of military out there in the hands of all remaining players.

This one will be interesting to follow in the weeks, months, or years to follow!

Wow it has been running for such a long time what 1 month. I think the earth year of 2011 is a typo.

No sign of ending yet! All races still going strong.

Birds have made a remarkable comeback from the brink of death and are allied with the Privs. Lizards have shut down their borders against a combined Priv/Bird attack and are allied with the Cylons who is laying minefields for the fun of it. New Borg player has refused any alliance and is currently at war with all.

Once the Borg ships are gone and the Privs have no ships to rob then the game will truly begin!

Great game Guys.

These maps get crazy near the end, with the whole thing covered in overlapping mines and every planet being a starbase capable to eating a super carrier. Will be very cool to look at with the time machine.

The robots and borgs could have won this game some time ago, but for the departing borg player on turn 100. This broke a 75 turn alliance.

Now war rages with 12 biocides destroyed and 20 borg planets taken by the cylons.......

And yes, I do like my minefields :-)

I tried to play the borg for a few turns, but not having played them before, it was a bit overwhelming. Sadly, I wasn't doing my allies any good with the time I had available, and had to resign.
