Can an empty freighter perform 'Colonize' ?

I have the following situation: i need to quickly have colonists on one planet, already owned by me, and wish to disassemble the freighter. (don't ask why). the freighter has just enough fuel to enter the warp well. will the freighter still be able to perform 'colonize' respectively 'land and disassemble' if it runs empty on the way?

My first guess would be no, because it loses its mission when it has no fuel...

Same thought as lord helmet.

But you could always jettison some stuff, if you can, to save at least 1 of fuel.

If you try with no fuel let us know the outcome. ;-)

ships without fuel are unable to perform any missions

they can perform the beam up neutronium mission though...

For some reason I thought that you can Colonize without fuel. It was written somewhere, just gotta find it thought.

Just tried it in a computer blitz game, a ship can "land and disassemble" without fuel.

But wait... i keep on testing, the case you described did not work just now. When the ship did not move it could colonize without fuel, but not after it went to another planet's warp well and run out of fuel. Strange... maybe the mission is reset when a ship has no fuel after movement, but its not reset without movement or colonize comes before resetting in that case.
(warum schreib ich eigentlich alles auf englisch? ;))

Arrrr!!

(Eigentlich ist das Schiff schon in der Warpwell und muss zerstört werden, Es hängt in ungefähr fünfzehn Netzen fest und hat tausendmillionen Flieger an Bord. Jetzt ist die Frage, ob mein Kollege mit einer Sonde reinspringen, das Schiff übernehmen, und auf seinem Planeten landen kann. Aber das soll der Gegner natürlich nicht wissen. Das mit dem Blitzgame zum Ausprobieren ist eine super Idee.)

Okay i did some test rows...

Land and Disassemble:

Possible:
- Can 'land and disassemble' on own planet after movement with still fuel on board.
- Can 'land and disassemble' on unowned planet after movement with still fuel on board.
- Can 'land and disassemble' on own planet without fuel if not moving itself before
- Can 'land and disassemble' on unowned planet without fuel if not moving itself before

Impossible:
- Can never 'land and disassemble' on foreign planets (also with fuel)
- Can not 'land and disassemble' on own planet after movement, if running out of fuel.
- Can not 'land and disassemble' on unowned planet after movement, if running out of fuel.

You're right, it works on unowned planets, when not moving before.
