I play Borgs. When I hyperjump into the warpwell of a planet the ship ends up in open space for example 2.8 ly from the planet but it sould be in orbit. (see host order)

You can jump directly 3ly north, east, west or east from a planet without being sucked to the planet (those coordinates are inside warpwell). Hyperjump to all other coordinates inside the warpwell and you'll get sucked to the planet.

Hi admiral,

I jumped in 2 consecutive turns into a warpwell. I am less than 3 ly from the planet on the next turn but  my probe did not get "sucked" to the planet though it sould have! It works in VGA Planets 3.5. This is difinitely a bug.

The Warp Wells documentation in the How to Play area on this site clearly states: "A ship that is doing an EXACT point to point HYP jump is not effected by warp wells." http://vgaplanets.nu/documentation/warp-wells

And I think I also read somewhere that HYP ships without an exact jump set are still special in that they need to be within 2LY of a planet to be affected by the gravity well...but take that with a grain of salt, as I cannot back that up with a link (and may just be my memory misfiring). ^_^;;

I get this sometimes, 2ly I get in, 2-3ly I don't get in.

I suggest to test if the destination point of the probe actually reads "WARP WELL" if yes and you don't get pulled in, it's a bug. If it doesn't then.. that point isn't in the warp well.

Thanks for your help everyone,

@kosame: you are right about the 2ly warpwell for HYP (I forgot it). I found it here:

http://vgaplanets.nu/documentation/friendly-code-hyp

I will do some more testing when I find the time and post the results here.

Old post, but that documentation is wrong.  Did a point to point HYP to land in a warp well, 1ly from the planet.  Got sucked in.  Didn't know about the "3ly and you're ok" bit.  Seems like a bug to me.

HYPing to 3ly from planet, but still inside warpwell and not getting sucked in is NOT a bug.

No comments on documentation...

No, my point is that I did a HYP p-to-p to land in a warp well, 1 ly from the planet and got sucked in, which is contradictory to what the docs say.  Peeves me because I was going to use that guy as a minesweeper.

RE: hyperjump and warpwellWrite Reply
Then the docs are wrong. You get sucked in if you HYP to the warpwell and you are not 3 ly away from the planet (N, S, E or W).

I think with normal ships you can be 3 lyrs away and get sucked in but if you HYP in you need to be 2 lyrs or closer.
