Unfortunately these forums are rather weak (as per features) and I was unable to conduct a decent search and what I did find was over a year old. So I will put the questions to you.

1. Race A and B have "share intel" set. Race B and C have "share intel" set. Can Race A or C see the intel of each other?

2. Race A and B have "share intel". They cancel their "share intel" and then Race B creates "share intel" with Race C. Will Race C see all the previous "share intel" with Race A?

3. Is there a limit to the number of races you can share intel with?

Thanks...and I welcome suggestions, thoughts, and comments.

No limits, A and C can't see each other, but there can be some leaks, like seeing planet owners

turssi,

Thanks...can you give me an example of a leak and what would they see or I see? Are these leaks bugs or are they dependent on circumstances?

Believe I had a thread similar to this at some point.

The "leaks" turssi is referring to are player A being able to see planets that player C has visited show up as an orange color and will be able to see the planets default friendly code, starting minerals of the planet, native race and government type.

In the past, you would also see minefield friendly codes however I think that portion has been fixed.

I just noticed this...some planets showing up as orange from a third race I do not have a relationship with. But why only some and not all planets? Is it only planets in which his ships visit (or mine)? Does their mission setting have anything to do with it?

Thanks again...

you will only see the ones that the third party visits AFTER you made your intel agreement with the player who is sharing intel with both players. You will see planets that he ships visits moving forward and vice verse for him seeing planets that your ships visit. The only time ship mission comes into play is when its a ship with a bioscanner.

Well that kind of blows any secrecy. I guess you could say that Race C and B are defacto partners as well. It would also leave Race A in an awkward position.

I think I should be careful in the future with this "share intel".

It is something to be careful about but don't avoid it because of the side affects of using it.

I'm in a giant melee game right now on turn 21 I knew where about a dozen 'enemy' planets were from 3 different races.  Turn 22 a Lizard player gave me an Intel Agreement.  I then had 100+ enemy planets from 10 or so different races from one end of the map to the other.

It's pretty safe to say the Lizard didn't have first hand knowledge of all those planets.  My best guess is the Lizards were given shared Intel from an Empire player and that Intel was passed on to me.

Some of those planets are EE planets but may or may not be the one that's sharing with the Lizards. So they will definitely share "enemy" information that's provided by A to C and vise versa.

WOW - that is crazy...Now the EE knows where you are as well.

I guess you could say that "shared intel" is short of like "dark sense" for the player getting the leaked info.

I think the info sharing rules are supposed to work as follows

As long as you are currently sharing info with another race, that race will not forward that information to other races.  If you withdraw your info sharing agreement, in effect severing diplomatic relations, the previously shared information will be considered the property of the other race and will be shared on the same basis as information he has discovered himself.  Basically, if you break agreements, your former partner is allowed to give away your secrets.

Not sure if this is the way it actually works, though.

EDIT:  There is a news post describing this, but you have to dig deep in the archive to find it.
