Exciting News - New 3D Ship Models Coming!

Some exciting news coming out of the ship yards here at Planets Nu. The Planets Nu team has been seeking an opportunity to redesign all the ship images onto the site into original design concepts. The time has finally arrived. We are pleased to announce that we now have a new team member who is an exceptional 3D ship modeller. Ressurected Starships

Our new partner is none other than the creator of Ressurrected Starships - A popular YouTube channel which specializes in taking classic starships from popular science fiction and designing them in 3D with fantasitic detail and skill. Although relatively new to Planets he has exceptional knowledge of sci-fi history, lore, starship design and the skills to make incredible designs.  He is playing here at Planets Nu with the name of "gugeyewalker".

The classic nature of our game and the sci-fi archetypes our races represent will be a perfect fit for content on the Ressurected Starships youtube channel. So as the ships are being designed the process and details of the ships will be documented on the channel. 

We would like to invite everyone here and Planets Nu to subscribe to the channel and join in the discussion and fun as we get an all new original set of 3D ship designs.

Designs and Use for the Nu Models

Our goal with the new models is to create a high quality set of original models that establish unique design patterns for each race that fit the sci-fi archetype they represent. We would like to still have a nice connection with the races we traditionally associate with them but still have a unique flavour that matches the history of the Echo Cluster.  

We will be incorporating these 3D models into the existing UI designs of the game both as 2D snapshots and as 3D models using WebGL technology which will allow us to display the models in your web browser and mobile app in full 3D alongside the existing 2D screens and map.  We will be also creating a 3D version of the VCR player that will add to the excitement. 

We will have a new model viewer ready here shortly so you'll be able to really inspect the models in detail. In the meantime - head over to the Ressurected Starships YouTube channel to check out the new Nebula and Coldpain.
