Game List

Player 1s RST have been unpacked and may be played now, using the play current button. Player 2s RST has been selected to be unpacked and will be unpacked when the unpack rst(s) button. The data that the HOST was run to make these rst files was 07/03/1995 at 11:15pm. The RST files for player 2 to player 11 are sitting in the d:\basic\plan32\warp directory. Player 1s RST has been deleted from that directory after it was unpacked. When the player uses the maketurn command on the choose race screen the TRN will be placed in the d:\basic\plan32\warp directory.

Current the above player has selected game 3. You to play in up to 8 different games and keep everything in order using this screen. To play in a remote game you must somehow get your RST file to your computer, you can do this by modem, network or by disk. This is your incoming result file. Your RST file will have one of the following names:

          player1.rst       The Solar Federation

          player2.rst       The Lizards

          player3.rst       The Birdmen

          player4.rst       The Fascists

          player5.rst       The Privateers

          player6.rst       The Cyborg

          player7.rst       The Crystal People

          player8.rst       The Evil Empire

          player9.rst       The Robots

          player10.rst     The Rebels

          player11.rst     The Colonies

To start play your turn you need to tell the game list windows where your RST file or files can be found on your computer. Enter the path to where the RST file was downloaded to by using the RST download path.

When good RST files are found the Races being played check boxes will be enabled.
Check the races that you want to play now in the Races being played  check box area. This button will copy the directory that you have picked for your RST Download Path into your TRN upload path.
A UNPACK command button will appear. If the UNPACK does not appear then one of the following may be wrong:

  1. There are no RST files at the selected path.
  2. The RST file date(s) are older than the data files in the current work area (stale RST).
  3. You make have already unpacked these RST files.
  4. You have not selected any races to play (select the race or races that you want to play by checking them in the Races being played  check box area)

The Status box will tell you the status of the RST files found or not found. The Newest RST box tells you the date and time of the newest RST file found. You can edit the label next to the game select buttons can be edited, giving each game a nick name. The TRN Upload Path is the location on your system that the MAKETURN command button on the race select screen will place the TRN files. These are the turn files that must be somehow returned to the host machine.

When you run Unpack a RST file the TRN file for that race will be deleted in the TRN Upload Path. This will help to keep you from mistakenly upload a stale (out of date) TRN file. When you click the Unpack command button all RST files selected will be deleted from the upload area and moved to one of the  game work directories . There are 8 work directories in the main VGA Planets directory. Click on the Play Current Race command button to begin playing. The next windows that you will see will be the Select Race Window.
